What is a Laser Facial (Skin Tightening)?

Laser Facial is a treatment that provides skin tightening without surgery. This treatment uses the application of laser energy to cause heating of the collagen in our skin. The result of this is shrinkage of the collagen which causes a tightening of the skin. It is used for skin wrinkling, but not for significant skin looseness. This treatment can be provided on the face, neck.

There is no pain with treatment, just a warm sensation. There is also no downtime. You may be slightly red for an hour or so after treatments. Generally 3 or more treatments are required, at least 1 month apart.

Cost is $2000 and up per treatment

Who is a candidate for Laser Facial?

Anyone is a candidate. This procedure is excellent for skin wrinkling, but not for significant skin looseness. The procedure works for all skin types and colours.

What can I expect during the treatment?

Dr. Farooq or a specially trained nurse/laser technician will apply a gel to the skin being treated. Then a small wand will be rotated very quickly on the skin being treated. You will feel a warm sensation. The procedure is not painful.This procedure takes about 10 minutes and you will feel cool air blowing on your skin. After the treatment, you may wash your face. You may see some slight redness. This will usually disappear in less than an hour. Often times you will also notice some initial tightening of your skin. Treatments are generally done approximately 1 month apart.

What results can I expect from the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment you may notice a tightness of the skin, and skin may appear smoother. The full results will be noticed at around 6 months. For most patients, measurable skin tightening will appear starting at around 2 months, with the final result at approximately 6-8 months.

How long will the results last?

Treatment will last for a few years, depending on factors such as sun protection and smoking. Most clients may return yearly for a single treatment to maintain optimal results.

Are Laser Facial treatments safe?

Laser Facial is a very safe method of tightening the skin without downtime. The most common side effect is a slight reddening of the treated skin which usually lasts for less than 1 hour. Rarely one can get scabbing or blister formation that is temporary.
